10 Reasons to Use a Registered Agent!

Any business owner can choose to serve as his/her own registered agent, there are a number of compelling reasons why business owners even small businesses, should choose a registered agent service provider to assist with this important requirement.
Keeping in mind that every business situation is different, and not all of these reasons will apply to every business, however, if only one of the reasons below matches your particular situation, having a professional firm like DEAR LLC act as your registered agent may be the best choice for your business.
  1. Do you prefer to spend more of your time and attention on building your business and focusing on your core business tasks? Compliance requirements can be both time- and labor-intensive, often requiring the completion of lengthy and sometimes confusing forms using information from various sources. Most business owners prefer to have an outside source deal with the minutia of compliance so they can focus on building and running their business.
  2. Do you want to avoid the risk of non-compliance? (Why of course!) Compliance matters are not likely to be your area of expertise, or interest. DEAR LLC's expertise is in compliance and we are intimately familiar with state and federal regulations and deadlines. As your compliance partner, DEAR LLC will help you stay in compliance, avoid unnecessary state penalty fees, and maintain your company's good standing in your state of formation and/or qualification.
  3. Do you want to ensure privacy when your company is in receipt of lawsuits and other legal documents? When a company is served with a Service of Process, it is often delivered by local law enforcement. Most business owners do not want police officers showing up in front of customers, employees, or neighbors (in the case of home-based businesses), to serve them notice that their company is being sued. Using a professional registered agent ensures you receive any Service of Process both promptly and privately.
  4. Your business is home-based. The address of a company's registered agent is a matter of public record. That means anyone, including marketers, can access it. It is not uncommon for the registered agent to receive a significant amount of "junk mail" for the business. Using a registered agent service provider will reduce the amount of unsolicited mail your business receives.
  5. You don’t maintain normal business hours. The registered agent for a business must be available during normal business hours to accept important documents as they are delivered. If you set your own hours, you may wish to consider using a professional registered agent service provider, so that you never miss these important communications.
  6. Are you  incorporating in a state other than where your business is located? You are legally required to have a registered agent with a physical address in the state where your company is incorporated. If you formed a Washington corporation or LLC, for instance, but your company is physically located in another state, you could use DEAR LLC as your registered agent in Washington to satisfy this requirement.
  7. Do you travel frequently or do not have a permanent worksite? If your business requires you to be out of your office frequently, for instance if you're a real estate agent or an electrician who is making service calls all day, using a registered agent service provider ensures that important documents will still reach you and your business.
  8. Does your company conduct  business in several states? When you register your company to transact business in states other than your state of formation (foreign qualification), you need a registered agent in each of those states. By using a registered agent service provider like DEAR LLC, one company is handling this important service for you in each state.
  9. You use a Post Office Box as your business address. You cannot serve as the registered agent for your business if you have a P.O. Box or a private mailbox as your only address. The registered agent must have a physical address.
  10. Your address is likely to change. The address on record with the state for the registered agent must be current. Changing the address requires a formal state filing and often a fee to be paid to the state. When you use a registered agent service provider, you never have to worry about updating with the state the registered agent address for your business or the associated filing fees. Whether you move once or change your address frequently, you only have to notify your registered agent of your change of address.

How registered agent services differ

Not all registered agent service providers are created equal, nor do registered agent providers offer the same level or high quality of service. When choosing a professional registered agent, look for a company with a long history of experience in providing compliance services to companies of all sizes, and one operating its own nationwide network of offices, thereby providing compliance expertise in all states. What a Week!

Our team has been incredibly busy, navigating the social and political climate while networking with local business organizations!

Our first stop was the 2017 Business Showcase at the Red Lion Inn Bellevue!
We announced the winner of the raffle for a $50 Amazon Gift Card- if you have not seen the announcement - visit us on Instagram (@DearLLC) or Twitter (Dear_LLC)!

Thank you to everyone who visited us at the showcase and GIANT thanks to Red Lion Bellevue, and the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce for
hosting an amazing event. We will be back next year without a doubt!

Also last week we attended the
Rainer Valley Chamber of Commerce Breakfast Meeting!
I live in the Columbia City neighborhood, and I recently joined the Rainier Valley Chamber. Susan Davis, the Executive Director and I connected immediately over our passion for Deaf culture and Community as well as our desire to bridge new business owners with long time business
owners to create a mentorship relationship and bridge the gap between old and new, the established and the growing.
I am very excited about continuing to connect with other Chamber members in the near future.

One of the exciting moments of the breakfast,  was when we were able to hear the amazing story of Joe Fugere, owner and founder of the very successful Tutta Bella Pizzeria. Joe shared his incredible accounts of meeting President Obama, being invited to the white house to represent small business owners, and pretty fantastic story about delivering fresh pizza to Air Force 1
as requested by the President himself!
If you want more information on the Rainier Valley Chamber, visit them here: http://www.rainierchamber.com/

Last stop, but certainly NOT LEAST,
Lori Karnes, National Account Specialist of Ace Relocation services, is one of the many wonderful people I have met on this business journey.
Lori kindly invited me to join her at the GSBA Women on Top event.
The fantastic event was held at the Columbia Tower Club, and featured a partner host, Hearing Speech and Deafness Center "HSDC". I was VERY excited to attend, for a couple reasons, first being that GSBA is the largest LGBTQ and allied chamber in the US that focuses on promoting diversity and inclusion in the workplace!
Second, being that  HSDC has played an enormous role in my families needs for the last few years and any opportunity I have to support them is an honor for me.

HSDC is always looking for donations and volunteers, if you want to learn more about how they support Deaf and Hard of hearing individuals and families with a myriad of services, visit them here: http://www.hsdc.org/
They also have a fundraiser coming up! Here is the flyer about that!

It was an amazing week, meeting new people, learning about new business and organizations! I feel like this is truly the time to connect and come together, to build bridges and relationships.

We are here to help YOUR business!

Industry Spotlight! WBO Series- Celebrating Lady Bosses

Hello DEARs!

Last night, I attended a Lady Bosses meeting where we discussed our master plans and goals for 2017.

I found that one very common thread among each and every one of us, is that we are seeking to build a community for those who are looking for inspiration, accountability, creative motivation, empowerment and feminine energy
(or energy that boldly exists within people who identify as feminine in some way).

Make no mistake, the energy is explosive!
It is empowering and nurturing.
It is supportive and authentic in a very special way.
I believe every workplace needs it.

I myself, walked away from the meeting feeling completely comfortable and supported in my complete transparency.
The reality is that I often feel the need to play a lesser "role" around certain groups in this very male dominated industry.
I decided recently that I would no longer be an apologetic success. It does not honor our lives, or our businesses if we don't accomplish our goals and dreams boldly.

My ONLY role is to shine and invite others to shine with me.

It is time to stop dimming our lights ladies!

We are not helping or inspiring anyone by playing small, fragile creatures. Let's be real, by shrinking around others, for their sake, we are only feeding the ego of those that are afraid  of our power.

As you can see, this post celebrates the
feminine energy in all of us!

Supporting women in leadership roles is imperative!

Maybe you aren't sure how to support and
empower the women around you.

Look around at your workplace and be aware of how many women are in leadership roles. If you aren't finding a representation of female success in your workplace, perhaps it is time to consider making an effort to seek out ways to be inclusive, so that you too, can benefit from the powerful amazing women that are ready,
and able to fill those roles!

If you would like some advice on how to make your workplace more inclusive, or need information on how to be a lady boss ally, visit us and sign up for our newsletter. We have an upcoming series that focuses on workplace improvements, that highlight inclusiveness and accessibility.
